GALLERY VISIT: TREVOR BROWN AT RED CUBE, ASAGAYA

"Kusama Yayoi" and "Ladybug"

We popped into the Red Cube Gallery in Asagaya to check out Trevor Brown's latest show. Asagaya is Brown's hometown in Japan. The show runs until 15th April and features a mix of older and newer works. Here are a few snaps to give you the flavour. Highly recommended.

To enter the gallery you'll have to go through the "3349" hair salon and ascend to the second floor...

The art is not to everyone's tastes, however, and Brown has been mired in controversy since he started doing art back in his native England, but the Japanese seem to "understand" his passive aggressive mixture of "kawaii" and "taboo" the best:

"ECT" and "Baby Dracula"

Then there are the little touches of "fascism" and BDSM. What's not to love about that?
"Red Girls"

But there are also plenty of heart-warming elements. What greater pleasures are there than having your favourite o-bento or bonding with your besties?

"Obento" and "BFF"
